Susan J. Elliott, J.D., M.Ed. is an author, attorney, grief counselor, relationship coach and media expert commentator. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from Mount Holyoke College where she graduated magna cum laude with High Honors and Phi Beta Kappa, a Master of Education from Cambridge College and a Juris Doctor from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law.
The Getting Past Your Breakup (GPYB) blog was started in late 2006 to stay in touch with her dozen or so seminar students. Within three months, the blog had gone viral attracting hundreds and then thousands per day. Readers were clamoring for "the book" which had not been written or even planned! Even though she was working as a litigator at a large, well-respected law firm, she found the time to write a book proposal, attract a top agent and sell the book to Da Capo Lifelong Learning Books.
In addition to practicing law, the success of GPYB allows her to travel nationally and internationally to hold seminars, lectures, bootcamps and workshops. She has also appeared as a contributor to many of the most popular women's magazines, major newspapers and on local (NYC), national and international radio and television. She has consulted on numerous television projects that deal with relationships and appeared on many television and radio shows. The success of GPYB led to the Elliott/DaCapo collaboration on her second book, Getting Back Out There.
